Apple rechargeable batteries and charger
Recently apple launched the Apple battery charger with rechargeable batteries I was very excited about the same because the kind of reach and influence apple has it will give a big boost to the rechargeable batteries market and also educated people regarding rechargeable batteries, recently apple has launched a lot of products that use batteries like Wireless mouse, trackpad and keyboards, so I am glad that they introduced this battery charger product as it’s great for our environment like all other apple products this chargers built quality is great and at the same time it looks good and is simple to use, so is the apple batteries and the charger good or what?
First impressions is that the charger is very sleek it takes in 2 AA batteries, IMHO its kind of an ideal travel charger for AA batteries, what you get in the pack is a AA NiMH charger 6 AA NiMH LSD (Low self discharge) batteries with the rated capacity of 1900 mah, it also mentions on the batteries that they are made in Japan, the bad part is that you just cannot buy the batteries separately so if you need more apple batteries you need to buy the entire kit with the charger which is just kind of crazy.
Apple also mentions that these batteries have a life of around 10 years and can be charged around 1000 times and they would hold a 80% charge after a year, from the characteristics mentioned these batteries look very similar to sanyo eneloops which is a good thing as eneloops are one of the best AA rechargeable batteries that you can find.
The charger has a simple led light to indicate the state of charge a “amber” color light indicated that the batteries are charging and a green indicated that the batteries are fully charged, the charger can also charge a single battery at a time if required.
To give you a better idea about the apple charger, listed below is a video by DetriotBORG.
From the limited testing we have done and reports by other users these batteries performs well and preform very much like AA LSD batteries, we also managed to charger our eneloops with the apple charger and did not have any problems with the same, the apple AA batteries held around 1875 – 1950 mah charge after a few recharge cycles.
We recommend this charger with the battery pack if currently you do not have any LSD variant batteries or a good charger, but if you already have a good charger with quality LSD batteries like eneloop you can pass this one as its nothing revolutionary just quality LSD batteries with apple branding.
